This month is the celebration of African American History Month. We are blessed to live in a country where the variety of the ethnicity which God has created is assembled in such a country like ours. Months like these which are designated to highlight the triumphs and troubles of diverse people who have contributed immensely to our nation is a great testament to the grace of God which is commonly extended to us a citizens of America.
African American History Month originated with Dr. Carter G. Woodson and was passed into public law in 1986 as "National Black History Month by Congress. This is an opportunity for men and women of all stripes to learn from the success and yes, failures of the African American experience. It is a rich history that is not just defined by the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade but is a history rich with the treasures of new universities, scientific advancements, political involvement and above all contributions to God's Church.
Christ has magnified himself through the African American Church. Faithful to his word that he would build his church, God has seen fit to use a host of significant events which have not prevailed, but were means used in the African American journey to bring many people into the saving knowledge of his son Jesus Christ. The fruit of God's grace has been dynamic preaching, exuberant worship, more probing questions regarding theology in light of human injustice, and the faithfulness of God.
This month I want to take time to present to my readers the power of Christ in the African American journey. We will hear from Richard Allen, C.H. Phillips and others regarding the work of Christ. Additionally what encouragements can African American Christians take from the lives of those who have gone before them.
Below I have offered a few resources to stir your engagement regarding Christ work in his Church.
Next week join me as we hear from Richard Allen
Welcome to my new website! At this website you will be able to interact with all my content that I desire to contribute in my walk with Christ. Here at the website you will be able view different thoughts I have on the Gospel as it relates to leadership, the local church and how to engage some of the tough social issues of our day.
My desire is that my contributions will have some small part to play in how the Gospel impacts every aspect of our lives. So take time to peruse, think and interact.
